Dragons

In the novels, riders of Gold and Bronze dragons, as well as some Brown, were portrayed as holding all the leadership positions. On the MOO, some things have been changed to allow capable players to contribute to the Weyr, no matter what color of dragon they ride.

* Gold *
Goldriders may hold one position and one only: Weyrwoman. They are expected to hold flights and clutch, either NPC or run a Search Committee for PC. Unlike the rest of the dragon colors, gold dragons DO NOT Search candidates of any kind. Gold dragons may only be ridden by female characters

* Bronze *
The second largest dragons, these males are generally the ones that are able to fly the queens, making their rider Weyrleader. Almost any position is open to them: Weyrsecond, Weyrlingmaster, Asst. Weyrlingmaster, Wingleader, or Wingsecond. They are encouraged to chase both golds and greens, and to assist the clutching queen's rider when it comes to coordinating a PC Search should their dragon sire the clutch. Bronze dragons may only be ridden by male characters.

* Brown*
Third largest of the five dragon colors, the male browns may hold many positions: Weyrsecond, Weyrlingmaster, Asst. Weyrlingmaster, Wingleader, or Wingsecond. Brownriders are also encouraged to chase both gold and green, and to help coordinate PC Search should their dragon sire a clutch. A male brownrider may hold the position of Weyrleader, although it is not a common occurrence. If a brown dragon mates with a gold dragon, there will be NO gold egg, and FEW bronzes. The resultant Dragonets -are- healthy. Such a flight occurs only rarely.

* Blue *
Blueriders may work with the Weyrlings as Weyrlingmaster or one of their assistants. They may also be Wingleader, Wingsecond or Weyrsecond. They are encouraged to chase greens, but do not chase golds.

* Green *
Greenriders may also be Weyrlingmaster or one of their assistants. Wingleading and Wingseconding positions are also open to them, as well as Weyrsecond. As one of the two female colors of dragons, green riders are encouraged to hold flights. ICly, flights would happen every 3 months or so, but not all are expected to be RPed. Green dragons do not have clutches, regardless of whether or not they chew firestone.
